Frequently asked questions

How much monthly support does GIST provide?

GIST lists KRW 140,000 per month for Master’s student allowance and KRW 295,000 for PhD students, plus nearly KRW 100,000 meal allowance. An additional KRW 120,000 international student allowance may be available when the student meets the GPA condition. Research assistant pay depends on project participation.

Does the GIST Scholarship cover all costs?

No. Tuition support and several allowances are provided, but GIST may charge a one-time KRW 680,000 matriculation fee. Dormitory or apartment fees, deposits and utilities are separate, and only 60% of national health insurance is supported. Flight reimbursement is one-way and for the student’s first arrival.
