Frequently asked questions

How much funding does ETH Zurich ESOP provide?

For the autumn 2027 start, ESOP provides CHF 13,500 per semester toward study and living expenses, plus a tuition-fee waiver. It normally runs for the regular duration of the Master’s programme, which is three or four semesters. The amount is not a separate monthly stipend and selection is highly competitive.

What extra document is needed for ETH ESOP?

Applicants must upload a self-developed pre-proposal for the Master’s thesis alongside the regular Master’s admission documents. If the programme does not already request references, applicants must name two professors who can submit reference letters through the system. The autumn 2027 application window runs from 1 to 30 November 2026.
